This blog is for the primary use of H. Carver's English students at Washougal High School. Parents and guardians, please feel free to explore all of the material at hand. In the freshman year, we travel through a thematic exploration of MAN vs. SELF. Through various media, the class will read, evaluate, and discuss the ever present struggle of self-doubts and personal victory! Welcome to Washougal High School!

Poe's The Raven
This year, a new detective story, set in Baltimore, Maryland, takes Edgar Allan Poe and his stories to task. Students have studied at least five works by Poe, and all of those works are captured in the new film The Raven, starring John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe. As this deals with Poe's horror-centered plot lines, the movie has received an 'R' rating. In order to view this film, permission slips must be signed and returned by MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2012. You may download a copy of the permission slip in the ASSIGNMENTS section of the blog, on the right.
